Vector Announces Boeing 787 Dreamliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
26-2-26
Vector today announced the development of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, marking the studio's most ambitious aircraft project to date. Internally known as Project Griffin, the aircraft is being developed with a long-term focus on authenticity, stability, and a complete end-to-end simulation experience.
Building on Vector's established team reputation, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is designed to deliver a modern widebody experience that balances visual accuracy with deep system behaviour and reliable performance across platforms.
"The 787 is a complex, highly integrated aircraft, and it deserves a careful, deliberate approach. Project Griffin isn't about rushing features for headlines. It's about building something that feels correct, consistent, and dependable from the moment pilots step into the flight deck."
A Focus on Authenticity and Longevity
Development of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is centred on realism that serves real-world operations. Visual fidelity is matched with a methodical approach to systems simulation, ensuring the aircraft behaves as expected across normal and abnormal scenarios, while remaining accessible and performant within the simulator.
Vector has placed particular emphasis on cockpit readability, lighting behaviour, material accuracy, and in-simulator immersion. Systems development is being phased carefully alongside visual production to ensure a cohesive and stable aircraft at release.
"Our priority is longevity. We want Griffin to be an aircraft pilots return to again and again, not just something that looks impressive on release day."
Designed for Modern Simulator Platforms
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is being developed primarily for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, taking advantage of the latest platform capabilities and workflows. Support for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is planned for a later stage, following the initial release, with further details to be shared as development progresses.
Performance, usability, and long-haul reliability remain core design considerations across all supported platforms.
Looking Ahead
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is currently in active development. Release timing and availability will be announced at a later date. Additional updates, previews, and development insights will be shared through official Vector channels as the project progresses.
Community members are invited to follow development and participate in discussion via the official Vector Discord server.
